2026 English

Expected in January 2026: the historical novel (translated):

A.D. 1194: The miracle of Chartres' new cathedral.

In 1194, the old cathedral was destroyed by fire. Construction of a new one began that same summer. The architects are unknown: at that time, the Lodges worked anonymously.

Designing it in a matter of weeks, the tension of contradictions, the tension between what is desired and what is possible... it must have been an exciting period.

In this novel, the author conjures up a master builder and his apprentice and shares with the reader the wonders and doubts, lessons and problems, and life at the end of the 12th century. Also published in France by Éditions Vérone under the title Les Maîtres inconnus de Chartres.

Also expected in January: the somewhat dystopian novel about an eleven-year-old mountain girl who lives alone with her grandmother on a mountainside in a very large country far away: Coming of Age in a Derailed Climate

Prolonged droughts with devastating forest fires alternate with floods. She manages to rescue drowning people with the cable car across the river. Her new family.

Circumstances force her to grow up quickly and emerge as a natural leader. They learn to adapt using natural resources to survive. They adopt other mountain children who have been abandoned by their parents and become a real village.

Expected: After working for more than a year on a philosophical novel about a search for forms of consciousness other than the human one—in which the enigma of free will arose—the subject matter turned out to be so extensive that I split the story into three books. Here is the first one: 1 Odile Steamgirl

Why? Quite simply: I took the main character from the novella Steam, which I published in 2022, about an autistic young man, an antique steam locomotive, and an African girl, a child refugee from Ethiopia and a status holder.

A love triangle.

The novella has been deepened and broadened, the autistic young man no longer returns, and the girl Odile earns her PhD in quantum physics. The locomotive watches patiently.

Next is the second book: 2 Odile AI Beyond The Secret of Free Will in a Non-Dual Context

In this second book, we see Odile as a gifted researcher with a postdoctoral fellowship for groundbreaking research working on a quantum computer. She doubts the goal: AI, and goes in search of answers to essential questions about consciousness. Do artifacts have that? Her steam locomotive seemed to have it. Can computers develop that?

Then she encounters the phenomenon of free will.

Now it gets very complicated.

The third book in the trilogy:

3 Odile In communication with non-human beings

The e-book can be downloaded for free, the paperback version is expected in the spring of 2026.

In this third book, we follow Odile and her friend Jolly as they make progress with their analog computer.

At the same time, a few eccentrics share their knowledge and experience with her, about Earth, about Gaia, about communicating with forms of consciousness beyond that of humans.
